Calvert Cliffs Nuc! car Power Plant Unit Nos.1 & 2; Docket Nos. 50-317 & 50 318 Severe Accident Managment In November 1994, the U.S. nuclear industry committed to implement Severe Accident Management (SAM) at their plants by December 31,1998, using the guidance contained in the current revision of Nuclear Energy Institute 91-04. On March 30,1995, we notified the Nuclear Regulatory Commission that we would complete implementation of SAM by December 31,1998. The Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant has fulfilled this commitment, as of November 1,1998, including the following elements:
All phases of SAM implementation have been completed, including procedure / guideline development and initial training for emergency response personnel; j
Mechanisms for including updated information (from plant changes or new external knowledge) e affecting SAM implementation and for periodic self-assessments are in place; and l
An initial self-assessment has been performed and indicated changes have been accomplished.
