NRC INSPECTION REPORTS 50-010/97026(DRS); 50 237/97026(DRS);
50 249/97026(DRS)
Dear Mr. Perry:
On November 6,1997, the NRC completed a fitness for-duty inspection at your Dresden
Nuclear Power Station. The enclosed report represents the results of that inspection.
Areas examined within your program are identified in the report. Within those areas, the
inspection consisted of a selective examination of procedures and representative records, and
interviews with staff. The objective of the Inspection effort was to determine whether activities
authorized by the license were conducted safely and in accordance with NRC requirements.
Based on the results of this inspection, one non cited violation was identified involving two
examples of failure to implement fitness for-duty provisions contained in the Dresden
procedure. The importance of this finding was that plant personnelindicated that they were not
familiar with the appropriate implementation of the procedure, although records indicated that
they were trained on the procedure during annual site access training. We acknowledge your
awareness of these problems and your actions taken or planned to address security
performance deficiencies by pl# personnel.
