Follow-up To December 3, 1998, NRC/ Wolf Creek Nuclear Operating Corporation /AmerenUE Meeting on Spent Fuel Pool Rerack Gentlemen:
Reference 1 provided the original submittal of an amendment request to revise the Wolf Creek Generating Station (WCCS) Technical Specifications to support a modification to increase the spent fuel storage capacity at WCGS.
References 2 through 5 - provided additional information.
Reference 6 provided written responses to items raised during meetings held on October 14 and 15, 1998, between the NRC, Wolf Creek Nuclear Operating Corporation (WCNOC),
and AmerenUE.
l As discussed during the meeting between NRC, WCNOC, and AmerenUE, held on December 3, 1998, this letter documents WCNOC's commitment to incorporate the following as part of the Updated Safety Analysis Report (USAR) update l
following the spent fuel pool (SFP) reracking modification:
A' discussion of the time frame the bulk fuel pool temperature could be in l
excess of 150 degrees Fahrenheit following a full core off-load.
The l'
maximum allowed time frame for this condition will not exceed 9 days.

The maximum allowed bulk fuel pool temperature is 170 degrees Fahrenheit.
Tha maximum allowed total fuel pool heat load is 63,41 x 10' BTU /hr.
