MOTION University hereby moves the Board for an order suspending forthwith further proceedings in the above-entitled action pending the taking of action on University's request to withdraw its license renewal application, which is being submitted herewith. University further requests that the Board telephone the parties as soon as possible respecting its decision on this motion.
II. DISCUSSION In a letter of this date from UCLA Chancellor Young to
, Chairman of the Comission Palladino, University informs the Comission of its decision to withdraw the UCLA license renewal application and to seektodecommissionthereactor.Y The formal request to withdraw the application is being made to the Board pursuant to 6 2.107 of the Commission's rules of practice. Further proceedings to consider issues raised in the contentions relevant to the proposed renewal of the license are no longer warranted and would be of no effect. To avoid unnecessary expense and the inconvenience of the parties, the upcoming hearing on the security contention should be canceled immediately.
