50-298, DPR-46" By letter dated September 29,1997 (Reference 1), the Nebraska Public Power District (District) submitted an interim report to the Commission pursuant to 10 CFR 21.21(a)(2) describing a deviation or failure to comply that has the potential to have created a substantial safety hazard.
.Therein the District com nitted to completing an in-depth evaluation by January 9,1998, to quantify the potential safety impact of the reported discrepancies. Due to the District's desire to.
assure necuracy and correctness, an independent third party has been contracted to review the corrected setpoint calculations. As a result, the action committed to in Reference 1 will not be completed until April 16,1998.
By letter dated March 27,1997 (Reference 2), the District committed to reviewing and updating all Level 1 and 2 setpoints (as defined in Procedure 3.26," Instrument Setpoint and Meter Banding Control"), and their associated calculations, by December 31,1997. Since this action cannot be completed until the setpoint calculations discussed in Reference 1 are corrected ed approved, the committed date of December 31,1997, will not be met. Accordingly, the Distnct will provide the Commission with a new completion date for the action committed to in Reference.2 as part of the closure letter for the potential 10 CFR Part 21 issue reported in Reference 1.

COMMITTED DATE COMMITMENT OR OUTAGE The in-depth evaluation to quantify the potential safety April 16, 1998 impact of the discrepancies reported in NLS970124 will be completed by April 16, 1998.
The District will provide the Commission with a new completion date for the action committed to in NLS970055 April 16, 1998 as part of the closure letter for the potential 10 CFR Part 21 issue reported in NLS970124.
