Comments from Comtnissioner Dieus RoDarding SECY 97173," Potential Revision to 10 CFR 50.65(a)(3) of the Maintenanco Rulo to Requiro Licensees to Perform Safety Assessments" I agroo with the staffs recommendation to evaluate the alternatives in SECY 97-173.
While i believe that option 2 may be an acceptable alternative, I am not prep. ired at this time to recommend one altern9tive over another. The staff should expeditiously assess, within the current resource constraints, the alternatives, including the changes to option 2 suggested by Commissioner Diaz in his vote, and report back to the Commission with its recommendations.
