ANNOUNCEMENT OF IP 40500 INSPECTION
Dear Mr. Myers:
Tnis is to inform you that the NRC will perform an inspection at your Perry Nuclear Power Plant of the effectiveness of licensee controls in identifying, resolving, and preventing problems in accordance with inspection procedure 40500. The inspection's onsite activities are scheduled for the weeks of January 12 and 26,1998. The details of this inspection were communicated to your staff (Mr. Henry L. Hegrat, of your Regulatory Affairs department) on Wednesday, December 10,1997.
The inspection assessment activ! les will include safety review committees, root-cause analysis programs, corrective action programs, self assessment programs, and other processes that provide for the incorporation of operating experience feedback. Our evaluation will review information for the previous 12 24 months.
In order to most effectively perform this 'ask, we would appreciate your providing information, as shown on the enclosed list, to Region til prior to January 5,1998, so that the team might effectively prepare for the inspection, if you have any questions regarding the information on the attachment, or on the inspection itself, please contact Rolf Westberg at (630) 829-9732.
