50-306 DPR-60 Report of Corrections to ECCS Evaluation Models Attached is a report of corrections to Northern States Power company's (NSP) Emergency Core Cooling System (ECCS) Evaluation Models which documents an effect upon the Small Break LOCA analysis of greater than 5 0'F. This report is being submitted in accordance with the provisions of Title 10, Part 50, Section 46 of the Code of Federal Regulations.

The corrections noted in Attachment 1 have been applied to Northern States Power's current ECCS analyses of record, and all analyses were found to be in compliance with the applicable acceptance criteria (Attachment 2).

During a licensee-conducted surveillance, it was identified by NSP personnel that a rebaselining case calculated a PCT more limiting than what had been previously been submitted via the 50.46 reporting process.

/

The rebaselining case is the limiting break calculation for Prairie Island

/

which includes all of the code changes (prior 50.46 assessments) since the analysis of record.

7 [ jgr The Licensing Basis PCT including all margin allocations remains in compliance with 550.46 requirements; therefore, no reanalysis is required or planned.

However, the rebaselining case is currently being investigated by Westinghouse personnel in order to confirm the validity of the case and the subsequent PCT penalty of 259'F.

A schedule is included for the investigation of the rebaselining case.

The review of the

  • 9t.,f rebaselining case, and the subsequent conclusions will be completed by

' ' ' Westinghouse no later than December 04, 1998.

Please contact Jack Leveille (612-388-1121, Ext. 4662) if you have any 1

questions related to this letter.
