%*****4 August 31, 1998 ALL AGREEMENT STATES MINNESOTA, OHIO, OKLAHOMA, PENNSYLVANIA TRANSMITTAL OF STATE AGREEMENTS PROGRAM INFORMATION (SP-98-075)
Your attention is invited to the enclosed correspondence which contains:
INCIDENT AND EVENT INFORMATION........... XX NMED NOW AVAILABLE ON INTERNET PROGRAM MANAGEMENT INFORMATION....
TRAINING COURSE INFORMATION...............
TECHNICAL INFORMATION..........................
OTH ER IN FORMATION..................................
Supplementary information: This letter provides notification that the NRC is now providing internet access to the auery only Nuclear Material Events Database (NMED). This is the same Microsoft Access database and program previously distributed to Agreement States that contains NRC and Agreement State licensee event report data managed by the NMED contractor, Idaho National Engineering and Environmental Laboratory (INEEL). INEEL has been providing updates to this data to Agreement States on a quarterly to yearly schedule via diskettes. The Internet version of the NMED program will eliminate the need for the periodic diskette updates. In addition, access to NMED via the Internet should provide easier access to the data through the use of simpler drop down, point and click menus NOTE: Agreement States should continue to use the Microsoft Access data entry program for maintaining a local
. events database and for submitting NMED event reports to INEEL.
Initial access to the NMED will be controlled either by a user-id and password, or a user-id and Internet Protocol (IP) addresses. The IP address is the assigned alpna-numeric Internet address. For agencies that are connected to an Internet server that provides a dedicated IP address for individuals, only a user-id will be required for access. The IP address will serve as
/
the password. Agencies that use a commercial vendor such as AOL for Internet service without dedicated individual IP addresses will need to use both a user-id and password for NMED
/
Access.
The INEEL contractor will also manage the Internet server for the NMED under contract for the NRC. Please provide the following information for the users that you would like to have access to the NMED web site and return this information to Gary Roberts at the address listed below.
