In the Matter of:
Puget Sound Power & Light Co.,
et al. (Skagit Project, Units 1 and 2), Docket Nos. 50-522, 50-523.
Dear Mr. Chilk:
Concerning the matter of cross-examination of consultants to the ACRS at licensing proceedings, we have reviewed the position set forth by Mr. Bender, Chairman of the ACRS attached to your request for comment.
The State of Washington supports the positicn taken by the ACRS.
We concur that the independent and collegial nature of the ACRS role in NRC proue'edings should be preserved.
Since the recommendations by ACRS' consultants are based on information already available to the licensing board
.here would appear to be no overruling reason to place the Jr. dependence of the ACRS in jeopardy.
Thank you for the opportunity t comment en the matter.
Sqncerely Y
