NPPD Response to IE Inspection Report 50-298/78-15
Dear Mr. Seyfrit:
This letter is written in response to the letter dated September 12, 1978, transmitting IE Inspection Report 50-298/78-15 which indicatad that one of our activities was not carried out in accordance with an industry approved code.
Statement of Deviation Section 14-1.2 of NFPA 80-1977, " Fire Doors and Windows," requires, in part, that all fire doors be operable at all times and that they shall be kept closed and latched or arranged for automatic closing.
Contrary to this requirement, it was noted on August 28, 1978 that the fire door in the reactor building, 903 level leading to the southwest quadrant, was blocked open by a hose, rendering this door inoperable.
This condition was noted af ter normal working hours, and no fire watch was present.
Actions Taken to Satisfy the Requirements of this Code The hose was removed from the doorway when pointed out by the Inspector.
A memo has been written to the Department Supervisors on the subject of fire doors.
The memo has also been posted on bulletin boards, r y.
