Thank you for agreeing to participate on the Regulatory Information Conference panel on Allegations and Employee Concems. As i explained during our telephone conversation, the gen 6ral theme of the panelis the use of statistics on allegations received by the NRC in analyzing work environments at licensee facilitiea. I will present information on how the NRC performs the analysis and uses the results. As we discussed, I would like you to provide your perspective as an independent interested party. I have enclosed a copy of the 1997 Annual Report on the status of NRC's Allegation Program for your information. Tne report includes a general discussion of the NRC's review of allegation data and a discussion of allegation data for nine specific reactor sites.
