Dear Dr. Gross:
I am responding to your letter of January 21,1998, requesting permission to send participants to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission's ' Licensing Practices and Procedures (G 109)* and
' Inspection Procedures (G 108)* courses. We contacted our Chattanooga Training Center to determine the procedures for your requesting slots in these courses.
The Training Center's policy is to accept request only from training coordinators. The initial contact can be made by telephone and the slots for government agencies are allocated on a space available t, asis. This year, the training center is offering two sessions each for G 109 and G 108. You should also be aware that there is another inspection course, ' Fundamentals of Inspection (G101)," which is presented by NRC managers and provides more of an NRC policy and procedure approach to inspections rather than the health physics oriented approach in G-108. We believe both courses are important.
