The NRC staff, with technical assistance from its contractor, the Idaho National Engineering l

and Environmental Laboratory, has reviewed and evaluated the information provided by Texas

. Utilities Electric Company, in its letter dated July 22,1998, proposing its first 10-Year Interval l Inservice inspection Requests for Relief Nos. B-6 (Rev. 2), B-7 (Rev. 2), B-12, B-13, B-14, and .

C-9 for Comanche Peak Steam Electric Station, Unit 1. For Requests for Relief B-6 (Rev. 2), }

B-7 (Rev. 2), B-12, B-13, B-14, and C-9, the NRC staff concludes that the American Society of Mechanical Engineers Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code requirements are impre iical and that l the examinations performed provide reasonable assurance of structuralintegrity of the subject welds; therefore, Requests for Relief B-6 (Rev. 2), B-7 (Rev,2), B-12, B-13, B-14, and C-9 are granted pursuant toTitle 10 of the Code of Federal Reaulations. Section 50.55a(g)(6)(i). The NRC staff's evaluation and conclusions are contained in the enclosed Safety Evaluation.
