l I am pleased to leam of your appointment by Govemor Rowland as the State Liaison Officer to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission from the State of Connecticut.

The NRC looks to the Governor-appointed State Liaison Officer to provide a communication

. channel between the State and the NRC; to be the key person in the State to keep the Governor informed on regulatory, radiological public health and safety or other matters of interest to the Governor; to keep other officials within the State informed on regulatory and public health and safety matters as appropriate to their interests and/or responsibilities; and to .

provide NRC with information on particular issues.

We are placing you on a special mailing list so that on a regular basis you will receive copies of appropriate NRC documents and reports to keep you informed of matters that may be of interest to States. Also, NRC conducts a national State Liaison Officers' meeting every three years, and regional meetings on an as needed basis, to discuss matters of mutual regulatory interest.
