FIRE RISK ASSESSMENT RESEARCH PLAN '
.. Attached for your review and comment is a report documenting the plan for the overall RES fire risk assessment research program (i.e., ongoing and planned work). It provides information on near-term and longer-term activities that will be incorporated into the PRA implementation Plan.
A draft version of this report (including staff requirements and funding levels, which have been deleted from the attached report) was sent to NRR fire protection and PRA staff in mid-April, 1999. NRR staff, the ACRS, and the nuclear industry have heard presentations of the material covsred in this report in a number of forums (including the January meeting of the ACRS
~
Subcommittee on Fire Protection). Comments and questions raised to date by these groups have been addressed in this report.
We are considering issuance of this report as a NUREG, with wide distribution to inform interested parties regarding the details of our research plans. We would appreciate your review
. and comment regarding the content of the report, and our plans to make it available in that manner, if possible by August 13,1999. We are prepared to discuss this with you at your
