I am responding to your letter of February 1,1998, commenting on the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission's positions or policies related to the West Valley Environmental impact Statement. As you point out, the NRC staff is preparing a Commission Paper on the West Valley Demonstration Project and West Valley site. We will continue to take your comments into account as we go forward, at the staff level, with our activities related to our responsibilities under the West Valley Demonstration Project Act, and as a cooperating agency in the West Valley Environmental Impact Statement.
