Dear Mr. Chaiman:
Public Law 97-415, enacted on January 4, 1983, amended Section 189 of the Atenic Enercy Act _of 1954 to authorire the Nuclear Regulatory Comission to issue and make imediately effective any amendment to an operating license upon a deterMration by the Comission that such amendment involves no significant hazards consideration, rotwithstanding the pendency before the Comission of a request for a hearirg.
In addition, the ingislation requires the Comission to periodically (but not less frequently than once every thirty days) publish notice of any amendments issued, or proposed to be issued, under the new authority above.
Enclosed for your information is a copy of the Comission's Riweekly Notice of Applications and Amendments to Operating Licenses involving no significant hazards considerations, which was published in the Federal Register on February 10, 1988.
