NRC INSPECTION
Dear Mr. Moscarello:

. This refers to the NRC inspection of the activities at ESC Resources, Inc., which was conducted on June 16,1999, at The Steel Company facility located in East Chicago, Indiana. The purpose of the inspection was to determine whether activities authorized by the license were conducted i
safely and in accordance with 10 CFR 150.20 (Reciprocity) and other NRC regulations. At the l
conclusion of the site inspection, preliminary findings were discussed with a member of your staff. Continuing NRC review was performed through June 21,1999, to further evaluate your program as it relates to implementation of 10 CFR 150.20. At the conclusion of the inspection,
- findings were discussed with you via telephone.
' The inspection was an examination of activities conducted under your license as they relate to radiation safety and to compliance with the Commission's rules and regulations and with the i
conditions of your license issued by the state of Illinois. Within these areas, the inspection
-consisted of selective examinations of procedures and representative records, interviews with i
. personnel, independent measurements and observation of activities in progress.
No violations of NRC requirements were identified during the course of this inspection.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRC's " Rules of Practice," a copy of this letter will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room.
