Seabrook Station Seal Remains Recovered-November 24.1998 l

l North Atlantic Energy Service Corporation (North Atlantic) hereby reports the discovery of seal j l

remains at Seabrook Station. The remains were removed from Seabrook Station's screen wash

~

! debris on November 24,1998, and consisted of about ten pounds of hide, flesh and bones. North

! Atlantic notified the National Marine Fisheries Service of this discovery by telephone'. The remains will be provided to the New England Aquarium. It may be difficult to determine the species and approximate age of the seal from these limited remains.

l This report is 2made in response to the National Marine Fisheries Service letter dated L January 5,1995 , recommendingthat North Atlantic report seal entrapment incidents. The attached

! seal entrapment incident report is enclosed as requested.  !

l 3 North Atlantic submitted an application for a Small Take Exemption Permit on June 13,1997 for the incidental taking of seals pursuant to Section 101(a)(5)(A) of the Marine Mammal Protection

- Act and in accordance with 50 CFR 216.104.

l
