The Commission
- was briefed by the staff and Administrator Frank Young of the Food and Drug Administration on recent events with potential impact on public health and safety relating to the use of static eliminators containing polonium-l 210 manufactured by Minnesota Mining & Manufacturing Company.
l Chairman Zech requested the staff to:
I review other manufacturers of polonium-210 static elimination devices for safety hazards and assure proper action, inform the IAEA of findings and concerns, and j
work with FDA and the Agreement States and aggressively investigate leads to assure the protection of the public health and safety.
