BERVED'JUN 2 51999 NRC STAFF'S MOTION FOR EXTENSION OF TIME The NRC Staff (Staff) hereby moves the Presiding Officer for an extension of time to file answers to the additional questions set forth in the Order dated June 16,1999 (Order). The Order directs the Staff to file its answers on or before June 30,1999, and Mr. Philippon to file any response on or before July 7,1999. The Staff respectfully requests that the foregoing schedule be extended to July 9 and July 23, respectively.

The two members of Staff, Mr. Peterso:. and Mr. Vick, who have been principally responsible for preparing the responses in this case both have outstanding assignments with deadlines that will cause them to be tinable to devote any time to the preparation of answers to the Presiding Officer's questions for at least one full week. Mr. Vick is currently on extended business travel and will not return to the office until nr.xt week, and Mr. Peterson is in the middle of completing the necessary work on an unrelated examination, among other assignments.
