Dear Governor Blanchard:
I Thank you for your January 6 invitation to the Seventh Annual Michigan Conference on Federal Research and Development Opportunities.
The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) supports the goals of the Small Business Innovation Research Program and attended the Federal HIGH TECH Conference in Atlanta in October and in Salt Lake City in November,1987.
Because of recent reductions to our FY 1988 budget, the NRC will not be able to participate in the Small Business Innovation Research Program this year.
Therefore, we do not plan to attend the April 20 conference in Michigan.
We wish the conference every success and hope that we will be able to attend next year.
