1 COMMENTS ON DRAFT 5 DESIGN FOR SAFETI 0F RESEARCH REACTORS

1. General Comment - Throughout the text many words that are spelled with the letter "z",

eg., minimize, organization, are misspelled with an "s".

2. p 5, second paragraph - The word "application" is misspelled.

3. p 7, second paragraph - Wording should be added that makes it clear that Appendix A is not a complete list. The designer should not be given the impression that if he has considered Appendix A he has covered all possibilities.

4. p 6. first paragraph - Same comment for Appendix B as for Appendix A.

5. p 8, 3.5.d. line 5 - The word "plant" should be "plan".

6. 3.7 - The word "program" and "programme ' both appear in this section.

7. p 10, 3.7'- Change the last line to "...each system, structure and component..."

8. p 12, 3.9.2, Change the second sentence to "Human factors is..."

9. p 13, 3.10, first paragraph, last sentence - It should be made clear what period of time is being referred to and how long it lasts.

10. p 15, 4.4.1 - Comma in the phase "chemical and," should be removed. Also, "fuel elament" should be "fuel elements".

11. p 16, 4.5.2 - Remove first comma.

12. p 19, 4.8.4 - The words "ventilation" and "operational" are misspelled.

13. p 19 and 20, 4.8.4, 4.8.5, 4.8.6, 4.8.7, and 4.8.8 - Consideration should be given to moving these sections to Section 4.3, Buildings and Structures. They seem out of place in their current location in the text.

14. p 20, 4.8.9 and 4.8.10 - Consideration should be given to moving these

sections to Section 4.5, Reactor Coolant Systam. They seem out of place in their current location in the text.

15. p 21, 4.9.5 - The word "safety" should not be capitalized.

16. p 21, 4.9.5 - The word "arrangement" is misspalled.

17. p 23, 4.14.2 - This section reads more like a General Safety Principle.

Please consiJer moving it to that section of the guide.

18. p 27, definition for Channel - The word "combined" is misspelled.

Also the "*" at the and of the definition should be removed.

19. Appendix B - The headings are not at the top of each page.
