FEMA SUPPORT FOR NRC LICENSING OF SH0REHAM NUCLEAR POWER STATION Enclosed is a Long Island Lighting Company (LILCO) letter dated requesting)that a full-participation exercise of the Shoreham December 18,1987 offsite plan be scheduled for the earliest Nuclear Power Station (SNPS possible date.In a memorandum dated January 27, 1988, we provided to you a LILC0 letter that transmitted the offsite plan for SNPS.
We requested that FEMA conduct a review of the offsite plan in accordance with the NRC/ FEMA Memorandum of Understanding using the new criteria for evaluation of utility offsite plans.
We understand that preparations for an exercise can begin after an initial assessment of the offsite plan is made and that exercise preparations can continue during the full review of the offsite plan. Accordingly, we request that you schedule a full-participation exercise to be conducted after the full review of the offsite plan is complete.
