SUBJECT: NRC INSPECTION REPORT 50-458/98-19
Dear Mr. Edington:
From October 19-23,1998, an evaluation of the cumulative effect of operator workarounds
inspection was conducted at your River Bend Station reactor facility. The enclosed report
presents the scope and results of that inspection.
The inspectors noted an increased number of tracked operator workarounds over the last year,
due to increased sensitivity to identifying as operator workarounds maintenance items not
previously so identified.

in accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRC's " Rules of Practice," a copy of this letter and its
enclosure will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room (PDR).
