sCKEl m a Ee BRANC-Secretary of the Commission Attn: Docketing and Service Branch U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, D. C. 20555 Gentlemen:
It is imperative that your comission rise above the petty bickering and falsehoods of small-time politicians, and the irresponsible lobbying of minority groups who obviously have little else to do.
It is a well known fact that the known reserves of petroleum in this country are limited. Unless wa proceed to imediately energize our elec-tric power plants with nuclear energy, we will leave tN next generation with very little power to run their businesses and keep their homes liv-able.
It is repeatedly proven that we cannot depend on the middle east oil reserves for cur heat and energy supplies.
With the advent and proliferation of computers our nation becomes increasingly depend on electricity with each passing day.
In a very few years, one needs only to "pull our plug" and we will c<.llectively be as helpless as a new born babe.
I travel extensively all'over the world, and it is interesting to see that France obtains about 70% of their electricity from nuclear plants.
In England they obtain about 50% of their power in this manner, and they have been doing it for many years. WHAT ON EARTH IS THE MATTER WITH US HERE IN AMERICA?
Please exercise whatever power and authority you may have to cause Seabrook and all the other nuclear power plants around the country to get into production.
We cannot depend on Canada for power either.
It is time for us to grow up and do this thing for ourselves.
There should be a strong national educational and public relations campaign for nuclear power.
It is necessary to overcome the ignorance and superstition that is being played upon by a comparatively small hand-ful of trouble makers in our country.
Ve truly ours, se0701c362 800603 Gerald N. d ed es, PDR PR pm 50 53FH16435 President GS/s b S -JD
