Dear Mr. Thorne:

Enclosed please find an application from General Atomics for a license to export a fission chamber to Colombia for use in the IAN-R1 Research Reactor at Bogots. The value of the item to be exported is $50,000.00. An identical piece of equipment was approved for export to Colombia on July 12, 1988 under export license XC0H1016. Please note that the monitor is being purchased by the IAEA for use in the reactor.

Before taking action on this license application, we would a >precirte your views, in accordance with established procedures, as to whetler the proposed export meets the applicable criteria in the Atomic Energy Act as amended by the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Act of 1978.
