Amershaw Cor) oration Model No. 85) Package Docket No. 71-9147 Enclosure to letter dated:DEC 4 51993.,

STRUCTURAL 1.

A discrepancy is noted between the thickness of the outer housing shown on the revised Drawing No. 85000 and what is indicated in the revised Section 2.1.1 of the Safety Analysis Report. This discrepancy should be clarified. Also, address the feasibility of welding a 0.5-inch thick n

plate onto a 0.09-inch thick stainless steel plate by 1/8-inch fillet weld.

2.

Under normal conditions of transport, a load of five times the revised package weight should have been used for the compression test.

3.

Specify the orientations chosen for the 30-foot drop test on the top and bottom corners, i.e. center of gravity over the bottom corner? Also, provide clear photographs of damage to the package due to 30-foot free drop and puncture test.

Photographs should clearly show point of impact.

)

4.

What effect would a tup corner drop between the two handles onto the steel bar (puncture test) have on the package?
