Gentlement The referenced let$.er requested that we advise the NRC of our efforts to address the issue of initial RT(pts) for the WF-70 weld metal in the Zion reactor vessels. At a meeting held on August 24, 1988 at the White Flint f acility, representatives f rom the B&W Owner's Group presented the methodology

that will be pursued to resolve the issue. The presentation was well received, however, the NRC could only comment on the intended approach to resolve the problem because the projected conclusions were based on partially available data. The attached Figure provides the Wr-70 evaluation program schedule as presented in the August meeting.

Commonwealth Edison is taking the necessary steps to ensure that the B&W Owner's Group will continue to aggressively pursue this matter.

If you have any further questions regarding this issue, please direct them to the Nuclear Licensing Department.

Very truly yours, M
