CLINTON POWER STATION - WITHDRAWAL OF APPLICATION FOR EXEMPTION FROM 10 CFR PART 50, APPENDIX J (TAC NO. MA3393)

Dear Mr. Sipek:

l By letter dated August 13,1998, you applied for an exemption from 10 CFR Part 50, Appendix ,

J, " Primary Reactor Containment Leakage Testing For Water-Cooled Power Reactors," for the  !

Clinton Power Station. The exemption was for deferral of the localleak rate test of primary containment penetration 1MC-042. Subsequently, the NRC staff had discussions with your staff and it was determined that a license amendment was appropriate for your request and not an exemption. Therefore, by letter dated October 5,1998, you submitted a license amendment request and withdrew the exemption request.

The purpose of this letter is to advise you that the exemption request is being treated as withdrawn and TAC No. MA3393 is closed. The license amendment request is being tracked by TAC No. MA3754.
