RESPONSE OF NRC STAFF TO MOTION OF PETITIONER FOR A TIME EXTENSION INTRODUCTION On June 7,1988, the NRC Staff (Staff) received a "Motion for Amer.dment of Hearing Schedule" from Campbell Rich, the petitioner herein.

interfere with his ability to meet the Licensing Board's schedule.
Although not presented in his motion, Staff has also been made aware of petitioner's difficulties in utilizing the local Public Document Room because of a reduction in the times it is open to the public during the summer months.
In view of the foregoing, Staff is not opposed to a reasonable grant of time such as thirty days for all deadlines at this time.
Such an extension would be helpful to petitioner in preparing his discovery requests and responses. However, Staff is opposed to petitioner's request for ninety days at the very outset of the discovery process.
There will be time to request additional time in the future if a particular problem or time frarre arises.
