SUBJECT:
COMANCHE PEAK STEAM ELECTRIC STATION (CPSES)
DOCKET N05. 50-445 AND 50-446 SEISMIC ANALYSIS OF SERVICE WATER INTAKE STRUCTURE SDAR: CP-87-115 (SUPPLEMENTAL REPORT) 1 Gentlemen:
On February 4, 1988, TV Electric letter logged TXX-88055 provided notification of a reportable deficiency involving a modeling error for seismic analysis of the service water intake structure.
A similar problem was noted for seismic i
Category I concrete tanks.
The purpose of this supplemental report is to revise the corrective action implementation schedule, and to revise a statement made in TXX-88055.
i The implementation of the corrective actions specified in TXX-88055 is continuing.
TXX-88055 stated that the assessment of the effects of the revised floor response spectrum (FRS) on the qualification of equipment, i
piping systems and components was complete (except for the Seismic Category I l
concretestructures).
However, certain mechanical components required reassessment due to other modifications, and the assessment effort for conduit in the intake structure is still ongoing.
TV Electric now anticipates l
completion of Unit 1 engineering and construction activities related to this issue by May 30, 1989.
Unit 2 corrective actions will be completed prior to Unit 2 fuel loading.
Very truly yours, h
