COMANCHE PEAK STEAM ELECTRIC STATION (CPSES)

DOCKET N05. 50-445 AND 50-446 DESIGN BASIS TORNADO (DBT) ANALYSIS FOR SAFETY-RELATED EQUIPMENT SDAR: CP-87-064 (SVPPLEMENTAL REPORT)

Gentlemen:

On January 20, 1988, TU Electric letter logged TXX-88086 notified you of a deficiency involving the pressure relieving capacity of the tornado venting devices on Units 1 and 2. Specifically, the existing Design Basis Tornado  ;

, (OBT) analysis does not include sufficient documentation to show conclusively the safety-related equipment is qualified for the differential pressures

. (negative pressure transient) expected during the DBT. The purpose of this report is to revise the corrective action implementation schedule for this issue.

The estimated date for completion of the equipment evaluation (item 2 of '

TXX-88086) has been revised to January 30, 1989. A schedule for any Unit 1 rework which may result from that evaluatior, will be provided at that time. '

The Unit 2 completion schedule has not changed.

, t l Very truly yours,
