SUBJECT:
MINUTES OF CRGR MEETING NUMBER 136 The Committee to Review Generic Requirements (CRGR) met on Thursday, May 19, 1988 from 1-4 p.m.
A list of attendees for this meeting is attached (Enclosure 1).
The following items were addressed at the meeting:
1.
W. Morris (RES) and J. Wilson (RES) presented for CRGR review a proposed Commission Paper, "Standardization of Advanced Reactor Designs" describing the NRC staff's plans for review and certificat. ion of three DOE-sponsored advanced reactor designs and setting forth the proposed preliminary criteria that the staff will apply in their review of those advanced designs.
(This was a continuation of the review of thir item that was begun at Meeting No. 133.) The Committee recommended in favor of forwarding the draft Commission Paper to the EDO and Commission for final consideration, subject to several significant modifications (to be coordinated with the CRGR staff).
This matter is discussed in Enclosure 2.
2.
R. Bosnak (RES) presented for CRGR review the proposed resolution for Generic Issue 103, "Design for Probable Maximum Precipitation" which would revise SRP Sections 2.4.2 and 2.4.3 to incorporate the probable maximum precipitation procedures and criteria contained in the latest NOAA/NWS publications.
The Committee recommended in favor of issuing the proposed resolution for comment, subject to several minor modifications (to be coordinated with the CRGR staff).
This matter is discussed in.
3.
L. Shotkin (RES) and H. Lauben (RES) presented for CRGR review a pro-posed final amendment to the ECCS rule contained in Section 50.46 and Appendix X of 10 CFR Part 50.
The Committee recoamended in favor of forwarding the package to the EDO, subject to a final review by the staff of le adequacy of reporting requirements that were the subject of one pub:ic comment received.
This matter is discussed in Enclosure 4.
4.
The CRGR review of the proposed Revision 1 to NUREG-0654 that was scheduled for this meeting was deferred to a future meeting (date to be determined later).
In accordance with the ED0's July 18, 1983 directive concerning "Feedback and Closure on CRGR reviews," a written response is required from the cognizant office to report agreement or disagreement with the CRGR recommendations in

receipt of these minutes, is to be forwarded to the CRGR Chairman and if there is disagreement with CRGR recommendations, to the EDO for decisionmaking.
