SUBJECT:

FINAL 1999 REGION lli INTEGRATED MATERIALS PERFORMANCE EVALUATION PROGRAM REPORT On May 24,1999, the Management Review Board (MRB) met to consider the proposed fina report documenting the Integrated Materials Per'ormance Evaluation Program (IMPEP) review of the Region 111 program. The MRB found the Region 111 program adequate to prote health and safety, and directed no significant changes for the attached final report. In yo April 29,1999, response to the proposed final report, you provided a list of actions Regi taking to respond to the recommendations. The MRB acknowledges these actions therefore no additional Region 111 response is required.

I appreciate Region Ill's efforts over the entire IMPEP review period, and especially d time of the team's visit. Normally, the Office of Nuclear Material Safety and Safeguar has used a two-year interval to conduct regional reviews. However, I have asked N consideration to a longer interval following favorable reviews, such as this one. NMSS will contact your staff with this decision in the near future.
