ACCIDENTS FOR DECOMMISSIONING PLANTS j
In response to a request by the Nuclear EnergyJnetitute at a meeting with public stakeholders on Monday, June 7,1999, the staff is releasing the attached preliminary draft of portions of the Technical Working Group's technical study of spent fuel pool accidents for decommissioning plants. The preliminary draft study includes the scope of the Technical Working Group effort, the assumptions used in the deterministic and probabilistic analyses, and basic insights. Since work is still in progress, the findings, conclusions and recommendations are not included in the released draft. It should be recognized that the preliminary draft study
)
i precedes the upcoming workshop with NEl and other public stakeholders in July of 1999, and the independent, technical, quality review process. As such, it does not factor in comments from the public stakeholders or any other technical organizations.
