- l'.0 Organization The. responsibility for the' Quality Assurance program for 10 CFRLPart 71 requirements rest with the' NORTHERN INSPECTION.
SERVICES INC., NRC License # 22-25842-01.

Neither-design nor fabrication of radioactive shipping packages will be done.
The Quality assurance program will be enforced by the-radiation safety officer,

The RSO vill be responsible for certification, training, document control, and auditing.
Radiographers will be responsible for handling, storing, shipping, inspection test, operating status and record keeping.
2.0 Quality Assurance Program Northern Inspection's management establishes and implements this QA program.
Training for QA functions in accordance with written procedures is required prior to performing these functions.
Revisions to the QA program will be done according to written procedures and are subj ect to management's approval.
The QA program will ensure. that defined procedures and specific provisions of the package design approval are satisfied.
The QA program empha-sizes control of the characteristics of the package which are critical to safety.
The RSO shall assure that all radioactive material shipping packages used by Northern Inspection have been by the NRC, by receiving. certification to this effect from the manufacturer.
3.0 Document Control All documents related to shipping packages will be controlled by the use of written procedures.
Revisions to these documents will be done to written procedures, approved by management.
It will be the duty of the RSO to ensure that the latest revision of applicable documents are used.
4.0 Handling Storage and Shipping Written procedures covering the handling, storage, and shippping of radioactive material packages will be followed by aT1 radio-graphy personnel instructed to do such.
Shipments of material vill not be made-unless all required test, certifications, inspections have been completed and found to be satisfactory.
5.0 Inspections, Test, and operating Status Inspections, test and operating status of packages for certain special form radioactive material will be indicated and controlled by written procedures.
Status will be indicated by tag, label, markings, ar log enteries.
Status of nonconforming items will be maintained by written procedures.
6.0 Quality _ Assurance Records Records of package approvals (including references and drawings when applicable), inspections, test, operating 1ogs, audit results

Eauipment descriptions and written procedures will also be maint.ained.
These records will be maintained by the RSO according to written procedures.
The procedures will indicate the storage of and location of the records.
7.0 Audits Audits of the QA program will be performed on a scheduled basis using a written clecklist as a guide for the audit.
Management shall be made aware of audit results. Audit results will be maintained on record according to written procedure.
Deficiencies found by audits shall be addresses and corrected by the RSO and management.
Audits shall be performed on each activity at least once per year by persons not involved in the activity, or.the RSO.
