Dear Dr. Denham:
The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has received the April 1988 monthly letter. status report.
Although there was no specific submittal from PNL, the issue of additional funding to complete the contracted work was resolved. We understand that the PNL wil! complete the Task 6 report of this contract for an
-additional funding of 2k from NRC, and PNL will absorb the rest of the cost overrun, if any. Also, any future work under Task 7 of this contract will be initiated by NRC with adequate funding. Your cover letter accompanying the monthly report indicates PNL's consent to the above resolution.
The camera-ready copy of Task 6 report was received by NRC during the last week of May 1988, and the report is in the process of being printed as a NUREG/CR report. PHL is on the distribution list and will be receiving copies of this report when it is published.
Even if there is no further activity in this area in the near future, we want PNL to send monthly letter reports untill the end of FY 1988, indicating the status of the contract.
Actions resulting from this are considered to be within the scope of FIN B2484-8. Besides the additional funding mentioned above no other changes to cost or delivery of contracted products are authorized. Please notify me immediately if you feel this letter authorizes you to incur any additional costs or delay in delivery of contracted products other than those mentioned above.
