JAN 13 1988 MEMORANDUM FOR: The Files FROM:

Marvin R. Peterson, Assistant Director for International Security International Programs Office of Governmental and Public Affairs

SUBJECT:

PROPOSED EXP0RT LICENSE XCOM10ll On January 12, 1988, Westinghouse Electric Corporation requested a license to export 50 Zirconium Alloy Tubes to Japan.

The applicant has requested an exemption to the nonnal 15-day waiting period due to the short lead time before shipment.

The staff has concluded that the proposed license meets the requirements of the Atomic Energy Act, as amended, and would not be inimical to the common defense and security of the United States.

n view of the above considerations, the staff issued the license without the normal 15-day waiting period.
