November 12, 1998 CHAIRMAN Mr. Douglas Iscovitz Principal Indian Ridge Middle School 1355 Nob Hill Road Davie, Florida 33324
Dear Mr. Iscovitz:
I am pleased to respond to your recent letter which requested a message of encouragement and advice to your students and teachers.
As you well know, the middle school years are crucial ones in which young people begin to form ideas about their future goals, including career choices. From my own experience, I would urge the students to set their sights high on what they would like to accomplish and to resolve to work steadily toward that goal, even while they enjoy their time in school. As I have long said.
the best things teachers and parents can do for children is te provide them the environment and the opportunity to find themselves and pursue their interests - whether in science, as I did, the humanities or some other field. When that occurs, the future of our children and our society is bright.
I therefore wish you, your teachers and your students great success in the important educational enterprise in which you are engaged. I thank you for writing, and i enclose the pictures which you requested.
Sincerely, b
