. On October 13,1998, the NRC completed a routine safety inspection at your Duane Arnold
- Energy Center (DAEC) facility. The enclosed report presents the results of that inspection.

' During this 5-week inspection period, your conduct of activities at the DAEC facility was
characterized by safety conscious operations. However, the inspectors noted two examples of !
initial operability determinations in action requests lacking adequate documentation, which was ,
viewed as a process deficiency. Your staff was reviewing the inspectors' concerns. No
violation of NRC requirements was identified.
