SUBJECT: DUANE ARNOLD INSPECTION REPORT 50-331/98013(DRP)
- Dear Mr. Franz:
. On October 13,1998, the NRC completed a routine safety inspection at your Duane Arnold
- Energy Center (DAEC) facility. The enclosed report presents the results of that inspection.
' During this 5-week inspection period, your conduct of activities at the DAEC facility was
'
characterized by safety conscious operations. However, the inspectors noted two examples of
initial operability determinations in action requests lacking adequate documentation, which was
,
viewed as a process deficiency. Your staff was reviewing the inspectors' concerns. No
violation of NRC requirements was identified.

. In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRC's " Rules of Practice," a copy of this letter and its
enclosure will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room.
