NRC INSPECTION REPORT NO. 50-341/98017(DRS)
Dear Mr. Gipson:
On October 21,1998, the NRC completed an inspection at your Fermi 2 Nuclear Power Station.
The results of the inspection were discussed with Mr. Paul Fessler and other members of your
staff on October 21,1998. The enclosed report presents the results of this inspection.
The purpose of the inspection was to review the implementation of the inservice inspection
program for the Fermi 2 refueling outage 6. In addition, this inspection also reviewed activities
associated with your installation of the emergency core cooling system suction strainers and the
,
drywell drain sump discharge piping overpressure protection modification.
We concluded that, overall, the inservice inspection program was implemented in an effective
l
manner. The emergency core cooling system suction strainer, and the drywell drain sump
l
discharge piping over pressure protection modifications had excellent pre-job planning and were
i
property performed and controlled. The inspection consisted of a selective examination of
procedures and representative records, interviews with personnel, and observations of activities
in progress.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRC's " Rules of Practice," a copy of this letter and its
enclosures will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room.
