PROPOSED IMPOSITION OF CIVIL PENALTY - $50,000 This is to inform the Commission that a Notice of Violation and Proposed Imposition of Civil Penalty in the amount of Fifty Thousand Dollars ($50,000)
I will be issued on or about June 17, 1988 to Comonwealth Edison Company.
This action is based on the failure to maintain control of access to a vital area of the plant. The escalation and mitigation factors in the enforcement policy I
were considered and no adjustment has been deemed appropriate.
1 It should be noted that the licensee has not been specifically informed of the enforcement action. The schedule of issuance and notification is:
Mailing of Notice June 17, 1988 Telephone Notification of Licensee June 17, 1988 The State of Illinois will be notified.
The licensee has thirty days from the date of the Notice in which to respond.
l Following NRC evaluation of the response, the civil penalty may be remitted, mitigated, or imposed by Order.
