STAFF REQUIREMENTS - MEE Il lG WITH ADVISORY COMMITTEE ON REACTOR SAFEGUARDS (ACRS) ON SAFETY GOAL POLICY, 2:00 P.M.,
THURSDAY, MAY 8, 1986, COMMISSIONERS' CONFERENCE ROOM, D.C.
OFFICE (OPEN TO PUBLIC ATTENDANCE)
The Commission met with the Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards (ACRS) to discuss the staff's proposed Commission policy statement on safety goals.
The ACRS views on the staff's proposed policy on safety goal were discussed.
The Commission placed no requirements on the ACRS in regard to the safety goal policy.
On a separate matter, Mr. Moeller, on behalf of the ACRS, requested that the Commission consider financial support for groups such as the National Council on Radiation Protection 1
Measurements, International Commission on Radiological Protection, and the National Academy of Sciences Committee on the Biological Effects of Ionizing Radiation.
Chairman Palladino requested the ACRS to submit this request in writing so that the Commission can afford it further consideration.
Subsequently, by the attached letter to Chairman Palladino frcm David Ward, dated May 13, 1986, the ACRS formally requested Commission financial suppprt for the above mentioned l
organizations.
The Chairman transmitted this letter to the EDO for action.
