Dear Ms. Brann:

This is in response to your letter dated May 9,1986, in which you requested, pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act (F0IA), the locations of nuclear waste dumps in New York and Maine which were not specifically identified on a map you enclosed with your letter.

I have been informed by members of NRC staff that they have no records indica-ting NRC licensed nuclear waste burial sites in the State of Maine.

Inasmuch as New York is an Agreement State and maintains any pertinent records, you may wish to submit a request for such information to the Bureau of Nuclear Operations, New York Energy Office, Agency Building 2, 2 Rockefeller Plaza, Albany, New York 12223.

The staff is not aware of the origin of the map enclosed with your request and, therefore, cannot comment on its accuracy or in what context the information is portrayed.

Sincerely, 2, 9 ie H. Grimsley, Director Division of Rules and Records Office of Administration 8605300368 860522 PDR FOIA BRANN86-333 PDR
