AT COMANCHE PEAK STEAM ELECTRIC STATION.

By memorandum dated November 26, 1984, the Of rector, Comanche Peak Task Force, requested the Director, Office of Inspection and Enforcement (IE), to consider whether Texas Utilities Electric Company (" Applicants") had made a " material fal'se statement" warranting enforcement action. Applicants made the~ statement, _
j which concerned U-bolt supports at the Comanche Peak Steam Electric Station, to the Atomic Safety and Licensing Board. A summary of the circumstances concerning this matter was provided to you by copy of the November 26, 1984 Director, Comanche Peak Task Force memorandum. The staff has determined that, although the question is a close one, the statement could be viewed as a material false statement.
The statement in question is, "To determine the range of torques which exists in the field, applicants inspected the torqu ms randomly nched down U-bolt s ts."

GAP is a non-profit, non-partisan public interest organization concerned with honest

Through public outreach, the Project promotes whistleblowers as agents of government accountability.
Through its Citizens Clinic, GAP' offers assistance to local public interest and citizens groups seeking to ensure the health and safety of their communities.
The Citizens Clinic is currently assisting several citizens groups, local governments and intervenors in the central Texas area concerning the construction of the Comanche Peak nuclear power plant.
We are requesting the above information as part of an ongoing monitoring project on the adequacy of Region IV and the NRC's efforts to protect public safety and health at nuclear '
power plants.
For any documents or portions that you deny due to a specific FOIA exemption, please provide an index itemizing and describing the documents or portions of documents withheld.
