-JOSEPH E FARLEY NUCLEAR PIN (f UNIT 1-NARRATIVE StkMARY OF OPERATIONS May, 1988 f
Re Cycle 8 9 refueling outage continued into the month' of May. Power operation began on May 21.-
n e generator was taken off line at 0022 on May
' 22 to perionn the turbine overspeed trip test anxi the turbine balancing.
The unit returned to power ope;ation at 1620 on May 22.-
4 On May 19, safety valve V0010A lifted and insnediately ' reseated. De valve was tested and the_setpoint was readjusted. The remainii.g sa <ty valves r
were tested and readjusted as necessary.
On May 27, there was a scheduled power reduction when the unit was ramp 3d down to transfer the turbine valves from single to sequential valve control.
%e following major safety-related maintenance was perfonned in the month of May:
- 1. The stay bolte in the charging pianp room coolers were replaced.
- 2. Motor-operated valve 3135 (service water to reactor coolant pump air coolers) was replaced because an acceptable seal could not be nede during local leak rate testing.
- 3. Corrective maintenance was perfonned on HV 3227B (main fctdwater to the IB steam generator) due to a body to bonnet leak.
- 4. Testing of motor-operated valves in response to NRC Bulletin 85-03 was completed.
- 5. Inspections of pole shafts in response to Nhc Bulletin 88-01 were completed.
- 6. Miscellanecus corrective and preventive naintenarce was performed on the diesel generators.
