This special report is submitted in accordance with Technical Specifications l Section 3.7.10. "Fire Rated Assemblies." On September 16, 1988 Virgil C. J l Summer Nuclear Station was shutdown for the fourth refueling outage. In f support of this outage, the fire barriers identified below have been inoperable for greater than seven (7) days. The operability checks of fire I detectors and establishment of fire watch patrols for the inoperable fire barriers were performed in compliance with Action Statement (a) of the above I

referenced Technical Specification.

1 Fire Doors PA301, AB401 and RB303 were opened September 24. September 28 and October 1, respectively, to facilitate personnel access to the Reactor [

Building. These barriers are expected to remain degraded for the duration of j the outage.  ;
