MAY 221986 Dr. F. C. Lindemann North Wyoming Diagnostic Radiology, Inc.

1058' Kentucky Avenue.

Sheridan, Wyoming 82801

Dear Sir,

This is in response to your letter of May 4,1986, concerning your. liability in signing a preceptor statement.

The NRC uses the preceptor statement as a means to determine the qualifications of physicians to use radioactive materials safely and to authorize the use of these materials on patients.

You should only attest to those matters that you have personal knowledge of or can truthfully verify.

Since the NRC uses the preceptor as a basis for a licensing action, failure to submit truthful information in an application is unlawful and would be subject to possible criminal prosecution.

If you have further questions, please contact me at 817 860-8187.

Sincerely, E D " W $ 'fid_ 0 8 2 R. J. Everett, Chief Nuclear Materials Safety Section cc:
